Overview

Eight steps in the management of ovarian cancer will be addressed by carefully chosen speakers and debaters. Controversial management strategies will be targeted and three debates are planned. These include goals of cytoreduction, use of HIPEC, and use of long-term IP chemotherapy. Use of HIPEC in recurrent disease is also a central focus. After each of the eight topics/debates a series of 5-10 questions will be directed at the audience and their responses recorded.  After the symposium, a clinical pathway will be constructed based on the presentations and audience feedback, and sent to each participant.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be able to

  1. Implement selection criteria to determine which patients should receive neoadjuvant chemotherapy
  2. Compare surgical strategies for complete and partial cytoreductions
  3. Identify proper utilization of minimally invasive techniques in cytoreductive surgery
  4. Define the role of HIPEC in primary or interval cytoreduction
  5. Implement selection criteria to determine which patients, if any, should be treated by IP adjuvant chemotherapy
  6. Define the role of HIPEC with recurrent diseases
