Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant will be able to:

  1. Identify the key components of the MedStar Health safety program.
  2. Evaluate how human factors concepts and systems thinking are integral to MedStar Health’s approach to safety.
  3. Examine how human factors and systems thinking can be applied in current clinical practice.
  4. Review the different neuroimaging modalities for acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, including the pros and cons associated with different types of testing.
  5. Apply the pathophysiology of acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke to different neuroimaging modalities.
  6. Describe current concepts in neuroplasticity.
  7. Discuss physiologic parameters to be monitored in the intensive care unit.
  8. Justify incorporation of principles of motor learning into the critical care setting.
  9. Explain the use of new technology in the critical care treatment paradigm.
  10. Identify and recognize alternative yet evidence-based therapeutic approaches to care for patients with neurologic conditions.
  11. Identify methods to integrate a team-based approach in the care of patients with varying neurologic conditions.
  12. Review leadership in Neuroscience Nursing.
