Overview
Grand Rounds provide a venue for the healthcare team to learn with, from, and about each other by developing continuous lifelong learning through lectures and case discussions on relevant topics, as well as current research. MedStar Health?s quality and performance data is used to drive educational content.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be able to:

  1. Practice of interprofessional mutual education, where each profession educates learners in other disciplines of current practices in his field and scientific rationale for these advances.
  2. Develop a personal habit of continuous lifelong knowledge acquisition with direct applicability to patient care, replacing old methods of care and procedures with new proven approaches that will improve patient outcomes.
  3. Apply information technology advances into professional practice focusing on electronic medical records, pay for performance, and compliance with new federal health care regulations.
  4. Apply the knowledge gained from the discussion of the care of an individual patient to the care of future patients within the framework of best practices and hospital policies.
  5. Utilize case presentations, applying adult learning principles, evidence-based literature citations, audience engagement and measured improvement in sequential experiences.

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by MedStar Health. MedStar Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
