Overview

This onsite or virtual course is for the interdisciplinary sports medicine team treating the lacrosse athlete. Lectures, Q and As, discussion and hands-on activities will review the current research literature specific to lacrosse, performance readiness and optimization, and injury considerations specific to the lacrosse-athlete.

The onsite course will be held at the USA Lacrosse Headquarters (2 Loveton Circle), Sparks, MD. The virtual course will be held online but will not participate in the afternoon hands on sessions. The onsite course will be eligible for 7.50 credits, and the virtual attendees will be eligible for 6.0 credits. 


Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant will be able to:

  1. Appraise current and emerging literature on lacrosse-specific injury epidemiology and biomechanics to identify trends, gaps, and implications for clinical practice.
  2. Establish and evaluate key physical and psychological readiness and performance metrics to assess the lacrosse athlete and inform individualized clinical and performance decisions.
  3. Integrate interdisciplinary roles and considerations of the sports medicine team in the evaluation, management, and return-to-play of the ill or injured lacrosse athlete.
  4. Demonstrate and apply evidence-based best practices for the safe and effective removal of lacrosse equipment during medical emergencies.
