Overview

This activity will cover topics related to dementia, including Alzheimer’s Disease and cognitive decline. The audience will learn about the differences between normal age-related cognitive changes and signs of neurological disease. This module will cover the history of dementia treatments, currently available treatment options, and how to best care for dementia patients.


Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant will be able to:

  1. Evaluate the harms and benefits of current pharmacological treatment and prevention options for Alzheimer’s Disease and Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI).
  2. Discuss non-pharmacological approaches to preventing cognitive decline.
  3. Integrate a team-based approach in the care of normally aging patients, patients with MCI, and patients with dementia, including Alzheimer’s Disease
  4. Integrate a team-based approach in the care of patients with Alzheimer’s Disease and Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI).
