Patient Safety (KK)

According to the World Health Organization, patient safety means offering "freedom … from unnecessary harm or potential harm associated with healthcare." According to the Institute of Medicine’s 1999 report To Err is Human, between 44,000 and 98,000 Americans die in hospitals each year due to mistakes in their care. This activity will review protocols that can be established to reduce patient safety errors.

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by MedStar Health and Healthy Foundations Group. MedStar Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
