Overview
This interprofessional live course offers continuing education for physicians, dietitians, and registered dietetic technicians. The meeting will use a hybrid format, with both in-person and Microsoft Teams participation. Case presentations will include a case highlighting medical and radiation oncology, highlights of head and neck surgery with reconstruction, and oral surgery. There will also be an opportunity to incorporate additional disciplines, including nutrition and speech-language pathology/rehabilitation.

Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant will be able to:

  1. Describe the role of systemic therapy and radiation therapy in the multidisciplinary management of patients with head and neck malignancies.
  2. Identify novel surgical approaches and techniques in ENT oncology and discuss their potential benefits in optimizing oncologic and functional outcomes.
  3. Discuss recent advances in oral surgical techniques and their application in the treatment and reconstruction of patients with oral and maxillofacial malignancies.

All attendees who wish to claim CE credit must register on this MedStar CloudCME page.

This event is complimentary for internal MedStar Health and Georgetown University associates, as well as external attendees who will not claim CE credit. The registration fee for external associates wishing to claim CE credit is $50.

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by MedStar Health. MedStar Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. 

Credit Designation

This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 1.50 Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credits for learning and change.

Physicians: MedStar Health designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Registered Dietitians (RDs) and Dietetic Technicians, Registered (DTRs): Completion of this RD/DTR profession-specific or IPCE activity awards CPEUs (one IPCE credit = one CPEU). If the activity is dietetics-related but not targeted to RDs or DTRs, CPEUs may be claimed which are commensurate with participation in contact hours (one 60-minute hour = 1 CPEU). RDs and DTRs are to select activity type 102 in their Activity Log. Sphere and Competency selection is at the learner’s discretion.

American Board of Surgery: Successful completion of this CME activity enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME requirement(s) of the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABS credit.

American Board of Thoracic Surgery: Successful completion of this CME activity enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME requirements of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery’s Continuing Certification program.
