Overview

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is a chronic immune mediated disorder of the intestinal tract that affects an estimated 1.4 million Americans. IBD, along with other immune mediated gastrointestinal diseases, is driven by underlying dysregulation of the immune system. In the era of biologic therapies, the field is rapidly evolving with the introduction of advanced treatments that improve patient outcomes and quality of life. MedStar Health is committed to delivering a high-quality educational program that provides timely updates on diagnostic testing, emerging treatment options and current clinical guidelines, led by nationally recognized experts. Join us this fall in Washington, D.C.!

Objectives

After completing this activity, the healthcare team will be able to:

  1. Identify key drivers of gastrointestinal immunology and the effects of dysregulation on intestinal diseases.
  2. Describe recent advances in IBD treatments and updates on positioning therapies based on disease characteristics.
  3. Discuss recent societal guidelines for management of IBD during pregnancy.
  4. Review diagnosis and updates on management of other immune-mediated GI disorders including intestinal and hepatobiliary disorders.
  5. Collaborate and learn with individuals/teams from other professions to improve patient outcomes.
